  ACCRA-TEMA BRANCH HOLDS ANNUAL GET-TOGETHER
The Accra-Tema Branch of Bonaboto held its Annual End-of-Yyear Get-Together on Saturday 21st January 2006, at the GBC Club House, Accra. The occasion attracted nearly 200 participants with a number of invited guests coming from other community groups. The occasion was also used to honour deserving individuals who have worked in diverse ways to promote Bonaboto as an organization and those who have worked for the development of the Bonaboto area and the Upper East region as a whole.

The event, which was characterised by blistering fanfare, had Mr. Matthew Adombire, the Regional Chief Manager, Accra East Region of the Ghana Water Company as its chairperson and Professor R.B Benning, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Development Studies (UDS) and the wife, as guests of honour. Mr. Peter Nafuri, a former Inspector General of Police attended as a special guest and presented a trophy from the Dagaabas to Frafras, for annexing all the trophies that were competed for during last year’s annual Dagaaba-Frafra games.

This year’s party has been unique in several respects: there were a variety of traditional foods that were heavily patronised; a musical group who treated us to nostalgic music of the Bonaboto area provided the entertainment; there were considerable individuals from other community groups who participated; and unlike previous parties, most people stayed and danced themselves off, until the early hours of Sunday before departing.

The climax of the occasion was the award of certificates to former executives of Bonaboto and other individuals including Mr. A.A. Ampofo, a former Regional Administrative Officer of the then Upper Region, and a fund raising event for the Bonaboto Education Assistance Fund (BEAF), which was innovatively launched by Lt Col. Sampana Babilla.

A complete report of the party is coming up shortly.
