PROFILE OF MR. SIMON PETER ADATARE, VICE TREASURER OF BONABOTO

SIMON PETER ADATARE hails from SUMBRUNGU in the Bolgatanga District in the Upper East Region of Ghana. He attended the Sumbrungu Primary and Middle Schools between 1965 and 1972. In 1972 he gained admission into the Zuarungu Secondary School (ZUSS). However due to inadequate infrastructure he was among the third batch of students of ZUSS who were transferred to Tumu where they became the pioneers of the Kanton Secondary School. He continued to the Bawku Secondary School to do his A-Level course between 1977 and 1978. He worked briefly at the Upper Region Agricultural Development Programme (URADEP) before entering the University of Ghana, Legon in 1981 where he pursued a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Degree.

He did his National Service with the National Onchocerciasis Secretariat specifically with the Resettlement Planning Project in the ‘Overseas’ area of Fumbisi-Yagaba-Soo triangle in the Oncho Freed Zone of Northern Ghana from 1985-1987. After National Service he has since being working with the Cocoa Industry: From 1988 - 1993 he was a District Purchasing Officer with the Produce Buying Company Limited and also worked at the CMC head office at Cocoa House in Accra. He is currently the Area Manager at the Tema Take-Over Centre (Port). While on the job he has attended a number of management courses in Ghana.

Mr Adatare is married with three children and lives at Halcrow Road, Community Two (2),Tema. He joined the BONABOTO Executive Committee (EC) as the Vice-Treasurer when the BONABOTO National Executive Council (NEC) at its May 2007 meeting in Accra mandated the EC to fill the vacant position. He was secretary to BONABOTO - Accra Branch, and member of the Interim BONABOTO National Executive Council elected at the Maiden National Congress in Bolgatanga (2001-2002). Simon was also the Vice-Chairman of the Kumasi Branch of BONABOTO from 2003 - 2005.
